Avoid some common retirement mistakes

Don't pay too much tax. Most people pay income tax in retirement. Be careful not to inadvertently fall into a higher tax bracket.

Don't run out of money. You need to have basic living expenses covered. This includes your mortgage if you still have one, household bills and food, and any other debt repayments.

Don’t underspend. You don't want to look back on your younger retirement years wistfully. Have a budget in mind and enjoy life.

Don't forget to plan together. If you live with a partner or spouse, you can plan together. You both get tax allowances, so making the most of these is very important.

Retirement income advice can help you avoid these common mistakes.

I wish I had something like this 20 years ago, it is really fabulous and a fantastic tool. Whether or not your costs or wish list is doable, DR just gives you that answer with a click of a button. You can play around with different variations. I didn’t realise the forecasting ability it would have.
